Terms of Service

Last updated: 2 June 2026

Welcome to PtahNest, a platform for finding collaborators and running shared software and creative projects. By creating an account and using PtahNest you agree to the terms below. Please read them carefully — if you do not agree, you should not create an account or use the service.

1. The Service

PtahNest lets you create projects, discover projects open for recruitment, request to join them, and collaborate through project chat, shared to-do lists, commit tracking, and participation certificates. Browsing public projects in Discover does not require an account; creating or joining projects does.

2. Your Account

3. Project Roles & Authority

Each project has a creator who holds final authority over that project, including managing members, assigning moderators, approving or rejecting join requests, and closing the project. Moderators help manage membership and review reported issues. By joining a project you accept the creator's authority over it.

4. Community Conduct & Voting

When collaborating, you agree not to:

Members may be removed from a project through a democratic kick vote: when enough active members vote to remove someone within the voting window, the member is removed. Commit ratings (1–5 stars) reflect peer review of contributions; you cannot rate your own commits. These features are community tools and their outcomes are final within a project.

5. Privacy of Messages

Project chat messages and join-request messages are stored encrypted at rest and are only shown to the relevant project members and applicants. Do not share private chat content outside the project without the other participants' consent.

6. Your Content

You keep ownership of the messages, project descriptions, and code references you contribute. By posting on PtahNest you grant the platform a limited licence to store and display that content as needed to run the collaboration features (chat, to-dos, project pages, commit history, and certificates).

7. GitHub Integration

Linking a GitHub account is optional. If you link it, you authorise PtahNest to read the repository and commit data needed to track contributions and send repository invites. To protect ongoing collaboration, you cannot unlink your GitHub account while you are an active member of any software project — you must first leave or complete those projects. Even after unlinking, the GitHub identity recorded for a project at the time you joined, along with contribution records and any issued certificates, remains associated with that project. Deleting or unlinking a repository does not erase contribution history already recorded.

8. Certificates

When a project ends, or when you leave or are removed from a project, PtahNest may issue a participation certificate that snapshots your role and commit ratings at that moment. Each certificate has a public verification link and may be shared (for example on LinkedIn). A certificate reflects recorded participation only — it is not an official academic or professional qualification.

9. Termination

You may stop using PtahNest at any time. The creator may remove you from a project, members may remove you through a kick vote, and we may suspend or remove accounts that violate these terms or harm the community.

10. Disclaimer

PtahNest is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any loss arising from the use of the platform, including disputes between project members. PtahNest is built for educational purposes as part of a final year project.

11. Contact

If you have any questions about these terms, please contact the project maintainer.
